Organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards have explained why Stephanie Okereke‘s ‘Dry’ was chosen as the Best Movie in the whole of Africa.

Speaking at a post event press conference, M-Net’s regional Director, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwudisclosed that the movie was arrived at after a rigourous process.

‘We had two stages of screening which involved world class judges,’ she said.
She further noted that on a personal note she would also have chosen the movie because of its strong message.

‘I have watched the movie personally and Dry is a unique movie which tells a special story about things Africans go through.’

Also speaking about why she thinks the movie was deserving, the director and producer of Dry, Stephanie Okereke disclosed that the movie represented what a lot of people have thought about in their minds but couldn’t talk about.

‘I think it is because the movie dared to answer the questions which we have in our minds but many couldn’t ask.

‘The issue of a Girl child is a very serious issue and like I said earlier we all saw the case ofEse Oruruwhich has gotten the whole country talking,’ Stephanie said further.

Dry was victorious over other highly-rated movies including Genevieve Nnaji‘s Road to Yesterday, Akin Omotoso‘s Tell me Sweet Something, Ayanda, Silverain, House Arrest and Freetown.
