Exclusive Interview: Apart From Music My Life Gets Boring Trust Me - TobyGrey


Toby Grey, born Adeyemi Tobiloba Maryam, in Ogun State in 1994, is a Nigerian singer, song writer and performing artiste. 

Her talent for music was discovered at the age of 16 and a year later in 2011 with heavy influence from Nneka, Asa, Leona Lewis, Ciara, she recorded her first track and has since gone on to record several more with performances at various showcases and events such as the City People Entertainment Awards, Kennis Music Easter Fiesta, 2face VoteNotFightCampaign, Miss Tourism Nigeria and the just concluded NEA in New york to be mentioned few, sharing stages with Top Nigerian Acts. 

This beautiful young entertainer in this interview with Ace Media states how it has been for her coming into the entertainment industry, the things that inspires her to do music and the current projects she's working on.

My name is Adeyemi Tobiloba Maryam aka Toby Grey

 What led you into music?  

I joined the choir late 2011. That was how it all started for me.

What inspires your music?  

A lot of things inspire my music. Sometimes it’s my personal experiences or how I feel at a particular moment. Other times it's from other people's experiences.

What message does your music pass?  

Whatever message I want it to. E.g. love, it relates humor, solidarity, etc. positivity basically.

Are you presently signed on a label?  
  
No, I'm not.


Apart from music what do you do?  
  
Apart from music, my life gets boring trust me. So I don't find myself being totally apart from my music.

What are you presently working on?  

A couple of collaborations , new singles, and a video for my latest

You recently released two successful songs, La le yi and Omolope, what inspired these songs?      

The former was just me trying to express a more creative side. Humor definitely inspired it. The latter was inspired by series of positive events that occurred when I needed them the most. They made me grateful enough to write that song.


How easy was it for you coming into the music industry?      

I can't really say because it wasn't as if I just waltzed into the industry. It just happened over time. And thanks to God I found myself where I am right now.


What do you love the most about the music industry?  

I love the versatility.

Would you describe yourself as a fashionable person?  
  
Not really. But I'll say I love to feel comfortable and feel good.

How would you describe your style of fashion?  

Comfort.

Can you tell us your relationship status?  

 I'm single

 Do you have any celebrity crushes?

How do you strike a balance between your private life and public life?

I really don't know how I do it sometimes. I'm surrounded by understanding people. I never worry about that.

If you could have one super-power, what would it be?    

It’d be to heal.

By this time next year, where do you hope to be?  

On greater platforms than I am.


What should your fans be looking forwards to from you?

They should look forward to seeing more from me. More surprises and interesting stuff. I'm full of surprises.
