Read Press Statement below;

ON UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN,AND NANS PURPORTED INTERVENTION

The following information is written to clarify our position and also to clear the air on the perceived belief going around that NANS intends to disrupt examination activities in the University of Ibadan today, It is sacrosanct at this juncture to reiterate that NANS is not 'nurtw' and we are not some set of illogical beings, we do have our viable reasons, and consequently a position.

Of a truth, NANS in her Senate Meeting on Saturday, 6th January 2018 and as demanded by all senators resolved to intervene in the ongoing Students' Union crisis in the University, it will be recalled that the activities of Students' Union, University of Ibadan was suspended on 30th May 2017 after a peaceful protest was held to demand for the improvement of Students Welfare on Campus. Also, it is worthy to note that the Vice Chancellor had also (directly or indirectly)  through his negligence to respect the rights of students to self realization, self actualisation and a united front such as a union, welcomed a NANS intervention.

However, its expedient to inform all and sundry that NANS as a parent body to all student union Governments has decided *AGAIN* to give room for interactions between the administrators of university of ibadan, well meaning Nigerians, Alumni and the leaders of the Suspended Union to try to resolve the existing issues,hoping that all will be settled quickly even though our  already threaded this path.

it is sad and equally condemnable   that the Union has not been hitherto reinstated since May 30th, 2017 and this is unacceptable to Us.

Hence, since we came on board, the new leadership of NANS Oyo State Axis have resolved to intervene, through Dialogue, Consultations, Negotiations to reach a positive conclusion that would result to the reinstatement of the Union as well as other demands made.

In view of the following, The NANS leadership will dialogue and engage the school management on the NANS Demands which includes but not limited to; The Reinstatement of the Union, Reversal of the over 140 queries issued out to students for their involvement in the last 'peaceful' Student Mass action.

We have made an official contact with the school management today and believe that the School Management will warmly receive the Intervention Team and we hope to have a fruitful discussion in the coming days.

Yours In Struggle
